RappArts is happy to support National Arts & Humanities Month (NAHM), sponsored by Americans for the Arts, for the whole month of October 2020. This is a time for communities to come together in unified celebration of the power of the arts to make a difference and change our lives for the better.
In this turbulent year, the arts and humanities have played an important role in getting us through the COVID-19 pandemic and amplifying the need for racial equality.
Americans for the Arts invites us all to join their #ShowYourArt2020 Instagram challenge and share what you love about the arts with a unique prompt every day in October. Whether you post once or 31 times, we all love seeing your posts showcasing the power and diversity of the arts in our lives. Be sure to include #ShowYourArt2020 and tag @americans4arts in your posts.
Some other ways to become involved with NAHM this month:
- Ask your mayor, city council, or governor to officially declare National Arts & Humanities Month in your community! Check out this blog post written by Americans for the Arts, Senior Director of State and Local Government Affairs, Jay Dick, about how to secure a local proclamation for National Arts & Humanities Month. Helpful resources include their sample proclamation you can customize to be specific for the community, and a how-to guide to help you make the ask.
- Spread the word about NAHM by writing an op-ed or letter to the editor for the local paper. Use Americans for the Arts media resources to get started.
- Share your story of how the arts create hope in your life by posting on social media using #ArtsCreateHope and #NAHM.
